James R. Curtiss, MD, FACG
Dr. Curtiss is Board Certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine and is also a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology. He did his Medical Residency with the University of Virginia Affiliated Hospitals and completed a 3 year Gastroenterology Fellowship at the University of South Alabama. He has practiced medicine in Bowling Green since 2006 and holds privileges at Greenview Regional Hospital and the Medical Center at Bowling Green. He also holds a Gastroenterology Clinic and performs procedures at Caverna Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Curtiss enjoys all aspects of Gastroenterology but has special interests in alcoholic liver disease, peptic ulcer disease, anemias, and obesity-related health issues as they pertain to the gastrointestinal system.
Dr. Curtiss has performed several community education talks covering topics such as GERD, colon cancer awareness, liver consequences of obesity, and hepatitis. His outside interests include reading, history, botany, astronomy, and kayaking.
Nancy Jo Houchens, APRN, ACNP-BC
Nancy Jo has an extensive background in Nursing. She graduated in 1996 with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Western Kentucky University. She worked in Critical Care as a registered nurse for 10 years prior to pursuing her nurse practitioner certification. She graduated in 2006 with her Masters of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University. She is a board-certified Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. She enjoys all aspects of clinical care in gastroenterology and hepatology with particular interest in preventive health.
Nancy Jo has been practicing medicine with Dr. Curtiss since 2007. Dr. Curtiss and Nancy Jo work together to provide patients quality care in gastroenterology. Nancy Jo works in the Bowling Green office and welcomes new patients.
Nancy Jo enjoys kids’ ministry and teaches Sunday School and music at her local church. She also enjoys traveling and time spent with her family.
